Indian Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali Takes A Leap Into Hollywood With New Agency Deal

22th April 2023, Mumbai: There is currently speculation surrounding Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s intentions following his recent signing with the Hollywood agency WME (William Morris Endeavour).

According to reports , Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his production company, Bhansali Productions, have recently reached agreements with the prominent Hollywood agency, WME (William Morris Endeavor). Notable celebrities such as Ben Affleck, Jessica Alba, Christian Bale, Kate Beckinsale, and Matt Damon are among the clients represented by the agency.

The director’s attempt to organise a global awards campaign for his recent film, Gangubai Kathiawadi, was soon followed by news of something else. The film had premiered at the Berlin Film Festival and had garnered significant views on Netflix, making it one of the most-watched Indian movies.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is no stranger to receiving international acclaim for his work. His film “Devdas” premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was even nominated for a BAFTA award in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Currently, Bhansali is working on his highly anticipated historical drama series, “Heeramandi,” which has garnered significant attention and popularity worldwide. Recently, the project made headlines when Ted Sarandos, the co-CEO of Netflix, visited Mumbai to meet with Bhansali.

Over the past few years, Indian filmmakers have displayed a growing inclination towards exploring prospects in Hollywood. SS Rajamouli, who directed the film RRR, has become a part of the CAA agency in Hollywood, while Jr. NTR and Ram Charan have reportedly engaged in talks with Hollywood directors for potential roles. Several Indian filmmakers, including Tarsem Singh, Mira Nair, and Shekhar Kapur, have gained recognition in the Western film industry.
