28th June 2023, Mumbai: The first song from Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, the director Karan Johar’s upcoming movie, has been released. The song, Tum Kya Mile, is Karan’s tribute to his beloved late director, Yash Chopra.
It features Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh as the protagonist couple romancing one other in the breathtaking Kashmiri mountains. He appears cool in glam attire, and she is clothed in lovely chiffon sarees. Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal perform the song, with Pritam providing the music.
On Wednesday morning, Karan discussed the inspiration for the song. He stated, “I recall that right from the start, I had the want to record a love song that would blatantly honour my mentor, Yash Chopra. The thinking, evolved part of my brain would scream, ‘You can’t match it, even dare to emulate it,’ but I gave in to my fanboy tendencies and fervent love of snow, chiffons, the breathtaking scenery of Kashmir, and pure romance. Pritam Dada and I desired a song that would endure throughout time, and it had to be without apology for it to be true. My sincere appreciation to Vaibhavi Merchant, who understood the Memo better than I did and took full control, and being a Yash Chopra lover herself … she gave her heart to our song…”
“Additionally, this was Alia’s first photoshoot following the birth of her daughter, and I really apologise for freezing her in Manish Malhotra chiffons. Ranveer was anxious because this was his first time lip-syncing a mountain love ballad, but he was a wonderful warrior. Out of compassion, I became seriously ill throughout the filming (possibly as a karmic punishment).”
“So, we’re heading back to the valleys for a lip-sync chiffon saree song by Ishq Wala…I hope you experience love as strongly as we experienced cold.You get this, Yash uncle.I will always be a fan, Karan.”
After more than six years, Karan Johar is back in the director’s chair with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. On July 28, the movie will be released in theatres. It also includes Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.
