16th June 2023, Mumbai: In a recent development, the Bombay High Court has quashed the old molestation case against Bollywood singer Mika Singh, which was filed by actor Rakhi Sawant back in 2006. The division bench of Justices A S Gadkari and S G Dige made the decision after considering an affidavit submitted by Rakhi, where she expressed her consent to drop the case.

According to the affidavit, Rakhi and Mika have resolved their differences and realised that the entire dispute arose due to a “misunderstanding and misconception on our part.” The case was registered against Mika Singh on June 11, 2006, when he allegedly forcibly kissed Rakhi Sawant on her lips during his birthday party at a restaurant in Mumbai. The singer was booked under sections 354 (molestation) and 323 (assault) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The controversy between Mika and Rakhi had garnered significant attention at the time and became one of the biggest controversies in Bollywood. In an interview, Mika had stated that he had asked his guests not to smear cake on his face during the party, but Rakhi did it anyway. As a result, he decided to “teach her a lesson” by forcefully kissing her.

However, last year, Rakhi and Mika unexpectedly reconciled when they bumped into each other outside a coffee shop. The actor-dancer even touched Mika’s feet as a sign of respect. This incident indicated a possible resolution of their past grievances.

In April of this year, Mika approached the High Court seeking to quash the FIR (First Information Report) and subsequent chargesheet filed against him by the police. Now, with Rakhi’s consent to drop the case, the Bombay High Court has granted Mika Singh much-needed relief by quashing the molestation charges against him.

This decision by the court brings an end to a long-standing legal battle and offers a fresh start for Mika Singh, who can now focus on his career without the burden of the past allegations.
