Despite its initial success, the film is now struggling to surpass the Rs 240 crore-mark. Directed by Sudipto Sen, The Kerala Story has been running in theaters for over a month. However, its collection has started to taper off in recent days, making it difficult for the film to achieve the desired milestone. On June 6, the film managed to mint approximately Rs 76 lakh, but it continues to face challenges, especially considering its initial ban in Bengal and limited screenings in Tamil Nadu.
Box Office Collection
Despite the controversies surrounding The Kerala Story, the film made its theatrical debut on May 5, creating a buzz at the box office. It even managed to cross the coveted Rs 200 crore mark by Day 18. However, its momentum has significantly slowed down since then. According to early trade estimates, on Day 33, June 6, the film earned around Rs 76 lakh. As a result, the total collection of The Kerala Story now stands at approximately Rs 237.62 crore, bringing it closer to the Rs 240 crore milestone. Moreover, on June 6, the film recorded an overall occupancy of 12.80 percent in Hindi.
Synopsis
The Kerala Story narrates the tale of a Hindu woman from Kerala, portrayed by Adah Sharma, who gets brainwashed into embracing Islam and is subsequently sent to Syria, where she is forced to join the ISIS terrorist organization. Her journey is marked by unimaginable hardships and torture. Sudipto Sen directs this thought-provoking film, while it is produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
