20th June 2023, Mumbai: Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani: A Tale of Love, Directed by Karan Johar, Unveiled with Shah Rukh Khan’s Trailer
On Tuesday, the highly anticipated trailer for “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” directed by Karan Johar, was finally revealed. This film marks Karan’s return as a filmmaker after a hiatus of seven years. Adding to the excitement, the trailer was unveiled by none other than the legendary actor Shah Rukh Khan, who has been a consistent collaborator with Karan throughout his career.
In an interesting coincidence, 2023 is a significant year for Karan Johar as he celebrates his 25th anniversary in the film industry. It was in 1998 that he made his directorial debut with the iconic film “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” which starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. However, even before stepping into the director’s chair, Karan had already made his mark in Bollywood. In 1995, he began his journey as an assistant director and supporting actor in Aditya Chopra’s blockbuster film “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” (DDLJ), which also featured Shah Rukh Khan.
Expressing his thoughts on the teaser of “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” Shah Rukh Khan took to social media to share his excitement. He tweeted, “Wow @karanjohar 25 years as a filmmaker. Baby, you’ve gone a long way. From heaven, your father and my friend Tom uncle (Yash Johar) must be beaming with pride as they watch this.” He further added, “The ethereal enchantment of love needs to be brought to life, as only you can, so I’ve always pushed you to make more and more films. The teaser for Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani looks stunning. I love you, and I wish the actors and crew the best.”
Karan Johar reciprocated Shah Rukh’s warm wishes on his Instagram Stories, expressing his gratitude and love for the actor. In his heartfelt letter, he wrote, “Bhai… I love you, now and forever.”
The bond between Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar goes beyond their personal camaraderie; it is reflected in their professional collaborations as well. Shah Rukh has not only played the lead role in Karan’s first two directorial ventures, DDLJ and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai but has also been a part of his subsequent productions like “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” (2001), “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna” (2006), and “My Name Is Khan” (2010). Although he did not appear in “Student of the Year” (2012), he co-produced the film alongside Karan under their respective production companies, Red Chillies Entertainment and Dharma Productions. Additionally, Shah Rukh Khan made a cameo appearance in Karan’s most recent film, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” (2016).
As the trailer made its way into the hearts of fans, several Bollywood stars including Anil Kapoor, Nikkhil Advani, Neeraj Ghaywan, Arjun Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Bhavana Pandey, Riteish Deshmukh, Neha Dhupia, Malaika Arora, Maheep Kapoor, and Seema Sajdeh shared their best wishes for Karan and the film.
“Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” boasts an ensemble cast featuring Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan in pivotal roles. The romantic comedy, produced by Dharma Productions and Viacom Studios, is set to hit theaters on July 28, promising to captivate audiences with its enchanting love story.
