20 October 2023, Mumbai: On its 43rd day in theaters, Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster film “Jawan” continued its impressive run at the box office. This Atlee-directed movie, after a month of dominance, showed signs of slowing down. On its seventh Friday, the film raked in Rs 45 lakh in domestic nett collection, bringing its total to Rs 638.42 crore.
Jawan’s International Success
“Jawan” also enjoyed significant international success, accumulating a total of over Rs 1141.5 crore. The film still holds a strong presence in India, with over 500 screenings concentrated in cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru. However, the occupancy rate has started to decline, falling below 10% in Mumbai and Delhi, and hovering around 50% in southern metropolitan areas.
“Jawan” Milestones
The journey of “Jawan” at the box office has been remarkable. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Deepika Padukone, the film was released on September 7, approximately a month after Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2” hit the cinemas. Notably, “Jawan” achieved the highest-ever box office opening for a Hindi film, amassing Rs 75 crore across all languages on its first day. It currently stands as the highest-grossing film of 2023 and the most successful Hindi film ever in India.

“Jawan” also holds a prominent position on the global box office stage. It is the second-biggest Bollywood movie in terms of worldwide earnings and ranks as the fifth-highest-grossing Indian film of all time, following “KGF: Chapter 2,” “RRR,” “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,” and “Dangal.” The gap between “Jawan” and “KGF 2” is approximately Rs 73 crore.

“Jawan” marked Shah Rukh Khan’s second major release of the year, following the equally successful “Pathaan,” which hit theaters on January 25 and grossed over Rs 1055 crore worldwide. The actor is gearing up for his next significant release, Rajkumar Hirani’s “Dunki,” slated for December 22, with a clash against Prashanth Neel’s “Salaar,” starring Prabhas. Shah Rukh Khan’s impressive run at the box office continues to make waves in the film industry.
