15th May 2023, Mumbai: Varun Dhawan, known for his affinity towards the action genre, has consistently expressed his desire to star in an action film. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Varun has received several offers for action-packed movies. Now, in 2023, he is finally set to embark on his first full-fledged action entertainer. According to exclusive information from Pinkvilla, Varun Dhawan is collaborating with Atlee and Murad Khetani for this highly anticipated action project.
As per a reliable source, the upcoming action film, which is yet to be titled, is scheduled to begin filming towards the end of July or early August. Varun Dhawan has been in discussions with Atlee and Murad Khetani for this project for some time now, and the actor is gearing up to start shooting in early August. Described as a commercial entertainer, the film is currently in the pre-production phase. The team is focused on assembling a talented technical crew and an ensemble cast to deliver a high-quality, large-scale action experience for the audience.
While the film’s storyline emphasises emotion and drama, action takes centre stage, and the team aims to craft stylish and grandiose sequences specifically tailored for Varun Dhawan. The shooting schedule is expected to span four to five months, as the filmmakers have set their sights on a grand global release in the summer of 2024. The source also revealed that the female lead and antagonist roles will be finalised by June.
The upcoming film will be produced by Atlee and Murad Khetani, although further details about the project have yet to be announced. Speaking of Atlee, he is about to make his directorial debut in Hindi with the film “Jawan,” featuring Shah Rukh Khan, which is set for release on September 7.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan is currently involved in the shooting of an espionage action thriller called “Citadel,” co-starring Samantha, with Raj and DK directing the series for Amazon Prime.
