5th October 2023, Mumbai: Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial venture, “The Vaccine War,” has struggled to make an impact at the box office. The film earned just Rs 50 lakh on October 4, signaling its potential removal from theaters.

“The Vaccine War” hit theaters on September 28 and is directed by Vivek Agnihotri, produced by Pallavi Joshi, and stars Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Raima Sen, Girija Oak, Nivedita Bhattacharya, and Sapthami Gowda in key roles. Despite receiving mixed reviews from both audiences and critics, the film has underperformed in terms of box office collections in India. With a budget of Rs 10 crore, it has struggled to even recover its production cost in the Indian market.

The film, which pays tribute to the dedication of the medical fraternity and scientists during the Covid-19 pandemic, focuses on the struggle of Indian scientists involved in vaccine development and delves into various stories behind the scenes. Upon its release on September 28, “The Vaccine War” earned a mere Rs 1.3 crore at the box office. Subsequently, its earnings dropped further on October 4, with just Rs 50 lakh, bringing the total collection to Rs 8.15 crore.

“The Vaccine War” also had an overall occupancy rate of 10.06% in the Hindi belt on October 4. The movie features Anupam Kher, Nana Patekar, Sapthami Gowda, and Pallavi Joshi in lead roles and was released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. It focuses on various aspects of Indian bio-scientists and indigenous vaccines and serves as a tribute to the dedication and sacrifices of the medical and scientific community during the Covid-19 pandemic.
