4th October 2023, Mumbai: What actually happened in Sikkim?

October,4, 2023- In a tragic outburst of Floods, occurred in Sikkim’s Teesta River,  23 soldiers, went missing and their fate is uncertain. According to the army defence sources, on the morning of 4 October, 2023, this sudden flash flood in the Teesta river have taken all the army vehicles with it. The roads, The buildings and various structures have been washed away by the flash flood.

The Army has going through thick and thin to find their missing soldiers. However, the Sikkim government has also issued the high alert within the region.

The cloudburst Triggering Flash Flood in Teesta River

It’s been Reported that, the cloudburst which is a sudden outburst of heavy rainfall happened near Lhonak lake that is in North sikkim overflowed from the north to the Teesta River in Sikkim’s Lachen Valley which caused suddenly a high water levels, leading to a flash flood like situation. The Teesta river risen over the mark and submerged all the surroundings with it. This sudden high altitude of water level  brought the flash flood like destruction in the Sikkim

Statement Released by an Army’s Easten Command

An army commander revealed some facts in a recent chat, The commander reported that “the water level of the Chungthang Dam reached high upto 15-20 feet, This affected the Army jawans who were stationed in the near affected region. 23, of them army Jawans have been missing, currently the search operations are going on.” He added.

The efforts of Sikkim Government

Moreover, the flash flood issue alert was immediately discharged by the sikkim government after the cloudburst in Singtam.

Chief minister prem singh tamang reviewed this flood situation with calm. Additionally, The sikkim government has taken full charge to protect and secure the local residents by issuing high alert.
