Domestic LPG Jumps Rs 60 in Major Cities

In Delhi , for instance, the price will jump from Rs 853 to Rs 913, while in Mumbai, it will rise from Rs 852.50 to Rs 912.50. Kolkata will see an increase from Rs 879 to Rs 930, and in Chennai, the new price will be Rs 928.50, up from Rs 868.50. These changes take effect immediately.
This price hike is part of a broader trend linked to escalating global energy costs, driven by rising tensions in regions crucial to oil and gas supply chains, according to industry officials. 

Commercial Gas Up Rs 115 for Businesses

Businesses are also feeling the pinch, as the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder will increase by Rs 115 on the same day. For example, in Delhi, the cost will rise from Rs 1,768.50 to Rs 1,883, while in Mumbai, it will go from Rs 1,720.50 to Rs 1,835. In Kolkata, the price will jump from Rs 1,875.50 to Rs 1,990, and in Chennai, it will increase from Rs 1,929 to Rs 2,043.50.
This marks the first significant change in domestic LPG prices since April 2025. The increase comes amid rising tensions in West Asia, which have left global energy markets on edge and raised concerns about shipments in the Strait of Hormuz , a vital route for oil and gas supplies. 

Puri: No Energy Shortage Worry

Nearly half of India’s crude oil and LPG imports pass through this strategic waterway. The discussion around rising prices also ties into broader concerns about India’s energy security.
In response to these developments, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, has sought to reassure consumers.
“Our priority is to ensure the availability of affordable and sustainable fuel for our citizens, and we are doing it comfortably. There is no shortage of energy in India, and there is no cause of worry for our energy consumers,” Puri said.

Petrol-Diesel Stable, Stocks Ample

Despite the upward pressure on global crude oil prices, petrol and diesel prices remained stable in major Indian cities as of Saturday. The Indian Oil Corporation has also dismissed claims circulating on social media about a petrol and diesel shortage in India, stating that these allegations are unfounded. They emphasized that the country has ample fuel stocks and that their supply and distribution systems are functioning smoothly.
“India has sufficient fuel stocks, and supply and distribution networks are functioning normally. IndianOil is committed to maintaining uninterrupted fuel supply across the country,” the company said.
