Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the revamped International Exhibition-cum Convention Centre (IECC) complex and unveiled its new name, Bharat Mandapam, through a drone ceremony. The event was attended by Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and other ministers. PM Modi praised the redeveloped complex as a ‘gateway’ to global opportunities and emphasized its significance as a ‘wonderful sight.’

Vision for India’s Growth

During the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi outlined his vision for a third term of his government, expressing confidence that India would become the world’s third-largest economy with a faster growth rate. He stressed the goal of transforming India into a developed nation within the next 25 years. Citing a NITI Aayog report, he highlighted the progress in poverty eradication, with 13.5 crore people lifted out of poverty.

Glorious Occasion with Distinguished Guests

The inaugural ceremony saw the presence of around 3,000 guests, including Cabinet ministers, industry leaders, film personalities, and other dignitaries. Prime Minister Modi presented statistics on various developmental achievements, from the expansion of airports and railway lines to city gas electrification, during his nine-year tenure. India, which ranked as the 10th largest economy in 2014, has climbed to the fifth position, trailing only the US, China, Germany, and Japan.

India’s Remarkable Development Journey

Looking ahead, PM Modi expressed confidence that India would continue its upward trajectory, aiming to be one of the world’s top three economies during his third term. The next general elections are scheduled for May 2024. He emphasized that the newly inaugurated Bharat Mandapam would host the G20 summit in September under India’s presidency, contributing to the promotion of conference tourism.

Striving for Top Global Ranking

Earlier in the day, PM Modi performed a ‘pooja’ at the renovated complex and interacted with the workers involved in its construction, appreciating their efforts and felicitating them. The Bharat Mandapam holds significant importance as it becomes a beacon of India’s growing stature on the global stage, symbolizing the country’s commitment to progress and development.
