The United States government, known for openly addressing global issues, stands firm in its friendship with India, inviting a state visit by Prime Minister Modi. As preparations are underway for the forthcoming visit, the White House emphasizes the importance of the bilateral alliance and looks forward to discussing a wide range of topics that strengthen their friendship.
Highlighting the significance of the visit, John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House’s National Security Council, emphasized the multifaceted alliance between India and the United States. Noting recent developments such as expanded defense cooperation and robust commercial exchanges, Kirby outlined the various reasons India holds strategic importance. He further underscored India’s role in the Indo-Pacific security and its membership in the Pacific Quad, solidifying its position as a valued ally.
When questioned about concerns regarding India’s democracy, Kirby reiterated the belief in India’s vibrant democratic system and invited individuals to personally witness the flourishing democracy in New Delhi. The White House spokesperson emphasized the importance of discussing the durability and strength of democratic institutions during the upcoming visit.
Kirby assured that while expressing concerns is a natural part of any friendship, the primary objective of Prime Minister Modi’s visit is to enhance the existing collaboration and foster an even deeper and stronger bond between the two nations. The visit, scheduled for June 22, 2023, will include a state dinner hosted by US President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden to honor the occasion and signify the importance of the bilateral relationship.
