21st March, Mumbai: Director Anshuman Chaturvedi, whose film A for Antara is currently streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar, says that he loved making the project. Rahul Datta of Colourblind Entertainment has produced the film and it features Manukriti Pahwa, daughter of Seema and Manoj Pahwa, Neelu Dogra, Saksham Shukla, Arfi Lamba and Ambuj Dixit.

“Manukriti is a powerhouse of performers. It’s in her genes. I am a big fan of Seema ji and Manoj ji and now after working with Manukriti, I have become a fan of her as well. She does theatre with Naseeruddin Shah…so one can imagine what kind of acting hub she comes from. She is a director’s actor. If you know your job well then she can do wonders. Her expressions speak volumes which is a god’s gift for any actor,” says Anshuman.

The subject deals with crime against women. Talking about the same, he says, “A for Antara delves deep into the street crime that a woman faces in her daily life when she goes out. In the majority of cases of crime against women it is related with eveteasing, physical attacks, perversion and last but not the least rape and killing. A woman is made to feel unsafe and insecure about her existence beyond the periphery of her home and that’s the biggest damage done to the woman kind. Sometimes it kills the very spirit of a woman. Her family gets so insecure about her safety that they start curbing her freedom and it imprisons the victim in her own shell. The emotions create havoc and it leads to disillusionment from life itself. My film deals with this issue in a very sensitive manner and tries to unearth the core of the issue.”
