Narendra Modi, aged 73, is eyeing a historic third term as Prime Minister of India. His journey parallels that of India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who also served three successive terms. Modi, who hails from Vadnagar in Gujarat’s Mehsana district, began his political career with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 1985.

The Morning Consult Survey, conducted from January 30 to February 5, reveals PM Modi’s widespread popularity across the globe. His 78% approval rating surpasses that of Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Argentina’s Javier Milei, who secured second and third place respectively.

Under Modi’s leadership, the BJP achieved historic victories in the Lok Sabha elections of 2014 and 2019, winning 282 and 303 seats respectively. This marked the first instance since 1984 that a single party crossed the majority threshold on its own.

Notably, US President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau rank lower on the list, with approval ratings of 37% and 29% respectively. The survey also highlights other global leaders and their approval ratings. Notable names include US President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and UK’s Rishi Sunak, whose ratings fall below PM Modi’s remarkable 78%.
