New Delhi (India) March 21:The United States and Israel conducted airstrikes on Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility, according to the Islamic Republic’s atomic energy organization. Fortunately, they reported that there was no leakage of radioactive material at the Shahid Ahmadi Roshan enrichment facility in Natanz, a key site for uranium enrichment located about 220 kilometers (135 miles) southeast of Tehran.
"Following the criminal attacks by the United States and the usurping Zionist regime against our country, the Natanz enrichment complex was targeted this morning," the Islamic Republic Atomic Energy Organisation said. Satellite images from that time revealed damage to multiple buildings at the Natanz site, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. This attack comes in the wake of a 12-day war between Iran and Israel in June 2025, during which the Natanz facility was also targeted.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that Iran had informed them about the recent US-Israeli strike . There were no reported increases in radiation levels off-site, although the IAEA stated it is currently reviewing the situation. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi emphasized the need for military restraint, cautioning against the risks of a nuclear incident in the context of the ongoing conflict.
IAEA Warns of Radiological Disaster Risk
While officials from international nuclear agencies have indicated that no immediate leaks have been detected, they continue to express concerns about the dangers associated with military actions against such sensitive facilities. Grossi warned that the “possibility of radiological release cannot be ruled out,” and he called for moderation, particularly given that the region is home to several nuclear sites, which increases the potential risks with further escalation.
Airstrikes Continue as Tensions Escalate
The latest airstrikes come amid heightened tensions between the US-Israel alliance and Iran, with military exchanges intensifying over the past three weeks. The focus on critical sites like Natanz indicates a concerted effort to neutralize any perceived threats from Tehran regarding nuclear weapons development. Earlier this month, Iran reported previous strikes on the same facility, highlighting its strategic importance.
Khamenei Vows Resolve on Nowruz
As the conflict shows no signs of abating, Israel reported that Iran launched missiles at it early on Saturday, while Saudi Arabia claimed to have intercepted 20 drones in its eastern region, where significant oil facilities are located. This wave of attacks followed Israeli airstrikes on Tehran coinciding with Nowruz, the Persian New Year, a holiday that is typically celebrated with joy but has been overshadowed by the ongoing war. In a statement broadcast on Iranian television to mark Nowruz, top leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei reaffirmed Iran’s steadfast resolve in the face of ongoing tensions.
