Arunachal Flash Floods Trigger Assam Alert; 3 Missing

According to the people in charge three people are missing after the flash floods hit the areas around the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation project in Poosa. At first they thought one woman was missing but now they know that three people are unaccounted for. The authorities have not confirmed if anyone has died yet.

Landslides have cut off the roads

This is making it hard for rescue teams to do their job. The rain has triggered landslides, which has blocked the roads that connect Poosa to Yazali and Hoj-Potin. This means that the affected areas are really hard to reach.

The satellite images and radar data show that the heavy rain between 6 am and 7:30 am caused the flash floods and a sudden rise in the river water.

The Assam government is keeping an eye on the situation because they are worried about flooding downstream. The officials are warning that the rising water levels and increased river flow could affect districts, including Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath and Sonitpur. The flood water is expected to move downstream and could reach Dhubri in the next one to two days.
