Confusion: Critical or Dead?
Some media sources say Bajwa is in serious condition, and others claim he died. But no official statement has confirmed either outcome. At least in theory, there is still confusion about what exactly happened.
Pakistan Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported the retired general either slipped or fainted due to a third-degree atrioventricular (AV) heart block. He was taken to the military hospital in the region and received immediate treatment under close monitoring. Initially stable, he later developed disorientation, memory loss, and could not even recognize family members including relatives. Conflicting reports continue to emerge, leaving his health status unclear.
Bajwa Doctrine Shaped Pak Security
Bajwa was initially appointed as the Chief of Army Staff by Nawaz Sharif in 2016 and subsequently, a controversial three-year extension was given to him by Imran Khan in 2019. During his time in office, the "Bajwa Doctrine" was the highlight of his tenure which aimed at creating a mixture of security as well as economic stability. He ended his service on November 29, 2022, and General Asim Munir took over. He focused on internal stability and made geoeconomics his mainstay under the Bajwa Doctrine, balancing between the two biggest powers, the US and China, and at the same time handling the unstable relations with India.
Bajwa at 68th in World Power List
Qamar Javed Bajwa is a very well-educated general with a proven track record. During his tenure as Pakistan Army Chief, he was ranked 68th among the World's Most Powerful People as per Forbes' list. On the security front, he led Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad to secure the counter-terrorism measures that have been deployed throughout the country.
