A happy Holi celebration became a shocking one in Nagpur after a grandmother allegedly threw scalding hot water at her grandson, 4 years old, for spraying colour on her. 

The shocking incident occurred on March 3 in Ward No. 2 in the Aramshin area in Koradi and was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. The video of the incident has already circulated online, shocking everyone.

Child suffers severe burns

The boy, whom police later identified as Om, reportedly had been playing outside his house armed with a colour spray bottle at Holi festival. Playing, he accidentally sprayed colour on his grandmother, Sindhu Thackeray, who was reportedly filling a bucket with hot water heated over the Holi fire.

Angered by the incident, she allegedly threw the bucket of boiling water on the child. The boy screamed and ran away after suffering severe burns below the waist.

Family members rushed him to a private hospital in Nagpur. According to reports doctors have reported that the child developed around 45% burn injuries.

CCTV video reveals shocking moment

So, in the CCTV footage of the scene, the woman in this scene walks with a bucket of hot water when the child approaches her when he has a coloured spray. A few moments later she tosses the water at him. There is footage of the boy screaming or jumping out crying and hurting.

 Another woman at that spot hastily poured cold water on the child and tried to soothe the burning. Later in their conversations, the grandmother also attempted to pour cold water on the badly injured child.

 The police started registering a case against the woman.

Holi dispute turns violent in Barabanki

According to an account, during another troubling episode tied to the Holi festival, at least 11 people were harmed in the conflict surrounding two groups in Barabanki. 

The reportedly began on a dispute over playing with colours. The arguments quickly escalated into violence as both groups purportedly used sticks, batons and iron rods to attack one another for nearly 10 minutes.

The clash caused panic in the area before locals intervened to stop the violence. Police said the situation is under control now.

The local resident, Avdhesh, alleged that members of the hostile factions entered his house when there were no male members, and he was allegedly attacked by the group. When he and others attempted to intervene, they were also beaten up.

 The authorities are currently investigating the case.
