Iran Drones Hit Bahrain Plant, Missiles Target US Base & Kuwait Airport

New Delhi (India) March 8:Bahrain has reported that recent Iranian attacks have caused significant damage to a water desalination plant and injured three individuals, as tensions escalate in the region.

Bahrain Desalination Plant Damaged in Drone Attack

The Bahraini Ministry of Interior announced that an Iranian drone strike on Sunday morning targeted the desalination facility, which is crucial for converting seawater into freshwater for local residents.
“The Iranian aggression randomly bombs civilian targets and causes material damage to a water desalination plant following an attack by a drone,” the ministry said.

US Accused of Starting Water Infrastructure War

Iranian officials argue that the U.S. set a dangerous precedent for such attacks by targeting a desalination facility on Iranian soil.
“The US committed a blatant and desperate crime by attacking a freshwater desalination plant on Qeshm Island,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.
It added, “Water supply in 30 villages has been impacted. Attacking Iran’s infrastructure is a dangerous move with grave consequences. The US set this precedent, not Iran.”

Iran Strikes with Missile on US Naval Base

In a dramatic turn of events, Iran has retaliated with a powerful missile strike aimed at a major U.S. naval base in Bahrain, heightening the already fraught atmosphere in the Middle East. Iranian military officials, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, stated that the strike employed precision solid-fuel missiles in response to what they describe as American aggression against a desalination plant on Qeshm Island.
They also claim that previous Iranian attacks have successfully compromised enemy radar and surveillance systems, enabling more accurate targeting in this latest round of strikes.
Following this direct missile and drone assault, the U.S. Navy's Fifth Fleet, based at Naval Support Activity Bahrain in Manama, is now navigating a significant military escalation.

Kuwait Stops Iranian Drone at Airport Fuel Tanks

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s military reported on Sunday that its air defense systems intercepted additional missiles and drones originating from Iran. Notably, a drone attack targeted fuel tanks at Kuwait’s international airport; however, the military confirmed that a fire caused by the attack was quickly controlled, with no significant injuries reported.
“Kuwaiti air defences are currently engaging in hostile missile and drone attacks,” the military said.
In addition, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar have also faced a series of Iranian attacks over the weekend.
