Janakpuri Horror: Eyewitness Says Biker Fell Into Pit, Authorities Were Informed but Silent

Kamal Dhyani was riding back to his home in Kailashpuri after work. It was late night. Roads were quiet. In Janakpuri, a deep pit stood open for a sewer pipeline repair under the Delhi Jal Board project. The pit was almost fifteen feet deep. Kamal’s bike slipped into it. Police later confirmed he fell directly into the ditch. This stretch had ongoing work. Locals say such pits have existed here for years. Many residents asked one question online. Why was the pit left open at night?

Eyewitness Saw the Fall

An eyewitness named Vipin Singh saw everything with his eyes. He informed what he saw and he revealed that he was driving back from a wedding in Rohini. He noticed a bike falling into the ditch just after midnight. Shocked, he stopped his car. He went to the road side. He informed a guard present near the site. The guard then told a labourer named Yogesh. The labourer looked inside the pit. He saw the bike headlight still glowing. He also noticed a human figure. People later commented. Help was possible at this stage.

Contractor Was Informed but No Action Taken

Police traced phone calls and timings. At a time which was around 12:22 am, labourer Yogesh called sub contractor Rajesh Kumar Prajapati. He told him a bike had fallen into the ditch. Police say Prajapati reached the spot within twenty minutes. He clearly knew about the accident. Still, no call was made to police. No ambulance was informed. No emergency help arrived. Police said this silence lasted till morning. Online reactions turned angry. People asked. Is this negligence or crime?

Family Searches While Truth Stayed Hidden

Kamal did not return home. His family grew worried. They searched hospitals through the night. No accident record was found. Police said a missing complaint could only be filed after twenty four hours. The family felt helpless. Using mobile location data, police and family searched Janakpuri area again. Only then the pit was found. The body was inside. Many people questioned the system. They said hours were wasted while Kamal lay unattended. Police denied delay from their side.

Arrests, Suspensions & Investigation

Police arrested sub contractor Rajesh Prajapati. An FIR was registered under culpable homicide laws. Some Delhi Jal Board officials were also named. Three DJB engineers were suspended. CCTV footage is under review though night visuals are unclear. Police teams are searching for labourer Yogesh. Post mortem results are awaited. This is not the first such case. Janakpuri and nearby areas have seen complaints about open pits earlier. People online demand strict action. They ask. Will this death finally change safety rules?
