Kanpur Tobacco Tycoon Denies Son Drove Crashing Lamborghini; CCTV Sparks Row

New Delhi (India) February 10:In the Kanpur case, the family of the alleged suspect alleged that a chauffeur was driving the luxury car at the time of the crash. Police have however claimed CCTV footage, witnesses and other evidence have proven that Shivam Mishra, son of a tobacco baron, was in possession of the Lamborghini when the crash occurred.

Family Insists Chauffeur Mohan Was Behind Wheel

KK Mishra, Kanpur’s top tobacco tycoon, has denied that his son Shivam was behind the wheel of the Lamborghini involved in the accident, saying the car was being driven by a hired chauffeur when it malfunctioned and the accident left a pedestrian hurt and other cars damaged. In talks with reporters, the tobacco baron stated that the car was being driven by a man named Mohan and Shivam was sitting inside the vehicle.
“My son’s condition deteriorated rapidly. He was unconscious by the time he reached home. We immediately sent him to Delhi, where he is currently undergoing treatment under medical supervision,” Mishra said.

Mishra's Lawyer Claims Driver Was at the Wheel

Mrityunjay Kumar, the counsel for Shivam Mishra, informed reporters that the vehicle was being driven by Mohan, a confirmed driver who had been assigned to Mishra's family, but not Mishra himself.
"The hearing proceedings will be held tomorrow. Shivam was not driving; his driver, Mohan, was. This is an accident case. When he was not driving, then there can be no case against him," Shivam Mishra's lawyer said.

Police Counter with CCTV, Witnesses

New CCTV footage came on Tuesday, recording moments just before and after the accident. The visuals portray the luxury car entering the area on Sunday afternoon with bodyguards jumping quickly to help. But the footage does not reveal who was behind the wheel, as the car’s windows were tinted black.
The case escalated on Monday when investigators registered an FIR against an unidentified driver and seized the Lamborghini. As the investigation progressed, it later emerged that Shivam was the person allegedly driving the vehicle.
