RCB Sale Heats Up: Glazers Bid $1.8B for IPL Champions

Glazer Family's Massive $1.8B Play via Lancer Capital

The Glazer family bid up to around $1.8 billion in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL franchise. RCB has had non-binding bidding from 9 companies, showing it is seriously interested in looking to shortlist potential purchasers.
Glazer also had an offer worth Rs 16,300 crore through his investment business Lancer Capital, and became one of the biggest names in an ownership chase recently known around the world. 

Bidding Status as Non Binding

The bidding over RCB's sale also has been high, costing as much as 1 billion to 1.8 billion dollars, and with United's valuation one of the highest, reports said. So far, Glazer’s offer has been widely understood to be non-binding so no final agreement has been signed.
But he has apparently already been shortlisted along four others to move into the next stage of talks. 

BCCI Rules Force Tough Choice

Now the owner of the United is said to be undeterred about owning an IPL franchise and is competing not just for RCB but also for Rajasthan Royals.
It explains that BCCI regulations do not allow a team to enter exclusive talks with more than one franchise. Which implies they may be forced to bid on either side, or that, if the Glazers do well in their bidding, they will have to pick one of them. 

Poonawalla and Adani's Power Bids Emerge

The respective bids from Poonawalla and Adani are worth Rs 15,000 crore and Rs 14,000 crore, respectively. Other bidders include JSW Cement Managing Director Parth Jindal, behind the Delhi Capitals franchise in the IPL and the WPL and Bengaluru FC in the Indian Super League.
