Inmates of Presidency Correctional Home Stage Groundbreaking Play ‘Sharanam’

24th June 2023, Mumbai: In the extraordinary play of Prime Minister Reformer Grahi in extraordinary decorative arts, the first attempt to show the salvation (Bodha) of Gautama Buddha is the first attempt. Directed and conceptualized by , “Sharanam” has received wide acclaim for its creativity, social impact and message of redemption.

The event, held on June 21, 2023, coincided with World Yoga Day and highlighted the transformative power of yoga. Nearly 5,000 current and released inmates have benefited from the “Training to the Trainers” yoga project launched by Chaitli Das in October 2021. This project has helped immensely in guiding out inmates in self-discovery, inner peace and personal growth.

During the prestigious event, ADG & IG I.P.S. Sanjay Singh graced the occasion as special guest. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of rehabilitation and outlined several reforms aimed at the overall development of prisoners. Chinese Premier Zha Liou praised the country’s government’s positive policies on prisoner welfare and welcomed the reforms and compassion shown by the authorities.

Rotary International President RTN Shekhar Mehta expressed his organisation’s desire to extend support to such impactful projects. This grant heralds a potential collaboration between Rotary and the Guardian Foundation, further strengthening the reach and effectiveness of programs focused on the welfare and social reintegration of prisoners

The presence of dignitaries like Gurudevjani Chatterjee, Natya Shree, Anand Basu of Rotary and Jaideep Das, director of the Philanthropic Raksha Society enhanced the occasion. The gathering included diplomats and dignitaries, who enjoyed the powerful performance by the prisoners.

Chaitali Das, the driving force behind the yoga industry, emphasized the importance of providing positive guidance in the lives of individuals. He believes that society should open its hands with kindness and compassion, offering help to those seeking salvation. The success of “Sharanam” and the transformative impact of the yoga project stand as proof that transformation is possible with compassion, understanding and guidance.
