BREAKING: Sanjay Singh Granted Bail after 6 months

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has got bail. He is lodged in Tihar Jail. He will be released after the court order. Sanjay Singh has got this relief from the Supreme Court. The court said that the conditions of bail should be decided by the trial court. The court said that Sanjay Singh can participate in his political activities. He will remain on bail until the trial is completed. The Enforcement Directorate said that there is no objection to granting him bail. Sanjay Singh was arrested on October 4 last year in an alleged liquor scam case.

Sanjay Singh getting bail is a big relief for the Aam Aadmi Party, because AAP convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is in ED custody in this case. He is in ED custody till April 15. Apart from this, Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain are also in jail.

Sanjay Singh had filed bail petition

Sanjay Singh had filed a bail petition in the Supreme Court. The court had asked the ED to tell by 2 pm today i.e. Tuesday whether AAP leader and MP Sanjay Singh needs further custody even after 6 months of imprisonment.

Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing on behalf of Sanjay Singh, presented his arguments. A bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice PB Varale ordered the release of Sanjay Singh, who was in jail for six months. The Enforcement Directorate said that it has no objection if Sanjay Singh is granted bail in the case. Sanjay Singh had challenged in the Supreme Court the Delhi High Court’s order refusing to grant bail in a money laundering case related to Delhi Excise Policy.

In the Supreme Court, a bench of three judges Sanjeev Khanna, Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice PB Varale was hearing the case.

ED did not oppose Sanjay Singh’s bail

Sanjay Singh was arrested by ED on October 4 last year. ED had opposed the bail plea of AAP MP in the High Court. The investigating agency had opposed the bail plea in the High Court and claimed that Sanjay Singh was involved in keeping, hiding and using the funds extorted from the Delhi liquor scam related to the policy period 2021-22. However, the Supreme Court agency did not oppose his bail.

The Authorities’ Clarification

The Supreme Court clarified in its decision, “Sanjay Singh can continue his political activities. The court said, “We record that the concession was given even before he started his arguments.” ED’s presentation on this. The Additional Solicitor General said, “I have an arguable case but we can make a concession.”

The Supreme Court said on ED’s plea, “ASG says that ED has no objection to the release of Sanjay Singh on bail pending the proceedings under ECIR under Section 3 and 4 of PMLA. “Is it?” Along with this, the court said, “We accept the present appeal and direct Sanjay Singh to be released on bail during the hearing.”
