The eagerly awaited aerial action drama, Fighter, starring Siddharth Anand, released the film’s trailer on Monday. Judging by the clip, it appears to be a full masala entertainer that would incite viewers to feel a wave of patriotism. Along with Talat Aziz, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, and Deepika Padukone, the film stars Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, and Grover in the key characters. The movie, which centers on IAF personnel, opens in theaters on January 25, the same day that Siddharth’s previous movie, Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, debuted.

What the trailer shows

Anil Kapoor assembles his finest pilots, including Deepika’s squadron leader Minal Rathore and Hrithik Roshan’s squadron leader Shamsher Pathania, to form a rapid response squad in the Fighter trailer. The film’s characters and the locations where it was filmed are both beautifully and stylishly showcased in the opening part of the trailer. But it soon becomes apparent that Pulwama, the site of “the deadliest terror attack on Indian air forces,” is the central focus of the movie. The movie makes reference to both the Indian strikes in Balakot, across the border, and the Pulwama attack.

You are instantly reminded of the 2019 film Uri: The Surgical Strike which starred Vicky Kaushal,  as the trailer develops and a character who is most probably the PM of the nation talks about getting revenge and making the enemy realize, “Baap kaun hai?” Most of the action in the movie appears to be in the air, making it a visual extravaganza. There are plenty of scenarios to inspire viewers’ patriotism.

There are plenty of heart-pounding scenes in the movie, such as aerial fights and a hand-to-hand fight in which Hrithik declares talks about “Pakistan occupied Kashmir” and warns of “India occupied Pakistan.” These scenes are surely going to make the viewers bow.

The film’s action mostly takes place in the air and the whole cast has given their best in delivery an action packed performance.

The trailer was released at a grand event in Mumbai. While Hrithik attended the launch, Deepika missed the event and informed about the same on social media. Taking to her Instagram stories, Deepika wrote, “Will miss my squadron…Good Luck Team!”.

The Pulwama Attack and the Airstrike by India

Forty men of the CRPF were killed on February 14, 2019, when a Jaish-e-Mohammed suicide bomber assaulted a convoy that was traveling from Jammu to Srinagar. On February 26, India initiated a counteroffensive known as “Operation Bandar,” in which airstrikes were conducted targeting JeM camps in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, near Balakot. According to reports, the area serves as a key training ground for the JeM and other terrorist groups. Subsequently, Pakistan declared that it was holding two IAF pilots, but later withdrew this claim and stated that it was holding only one. The release of IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman, who had been detained, was declared by Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan the following day.The PAF’s F-16 shot down the pilot of the MIG-21 fighter plane, forcing it to land in Pakistan territory. The Wing Commander was detained and interrogated. He was later conferred with India’s third highest wartime gallantry medal the Vir Chakra.

Fighter marks Hrithik Roshan’s third collaboration with Siddharth Anand after Bang Bang and War. The film is set to release on January 25th.
