Two days before the first round of the election gets underway, the Trinamool Congress unveiled their election manifesto on Wednesday. In the first phase of voting, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, and Jalpaiguri will have elections. One of the ten pledges made by party convener Mamata Banerjee was the frequently reaffirmed guarantee that Bengal will not have a Uniform Civil Code (UCC), National Register of Citizens (NRC), or Citizenship (Amendment) Act. The manifesto promised to disband the NRC and eliminate the CAA, calling it “botched up.”

The manifesto was scheduled to be published in six languages, including Bengali, English, Hindi, Urdu, and Nepalese and Santhali language Ol chiki.

Mamata Banerjee was in Assam campaigning when the election manifesto was revealed. Four TMC candidates would be running in the BJP state. In her speech at an election rally, Mamata Banerjee said that the BJP had turned the nation into a “detention camp” and that the CAA and NRC would be eliminated if INDIA were to win the presidency. “They (BJP) turned the entire nation into a prison camp. I have never witnessed an election this dangerous in my life,” Mamata declared, going on to say that if Narendra Modi won a third term in office, there would be no democracy or elections.
