New Delhi (India) August 21: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, other party leaders demonstrated at Parliament Street police station and the DCP office to seek an FIR against police personnel for alleged brutality and lathicharge. The leaders, who later confronted police officials over non-filing of the complaint, were told that it was not possible to file it at the station.

Dharna Held Outside Police Station

Gandhi led Sahil Lochav, the 19-year-old who suffered pellet injury, and other party leaders into the Parliament Street police station and asked them about the reason for not registering an FIR in connection with the injury.

When they refused, Gandhi staged a dharna outside and said he would not leave until the FIR was filed. Congress leaders shared video footage of the protest, accusing the police of trying to stall justice.

Reports Reveal Pellet Gun Injuries

Gandhi told media personnel that he found three pellets were inside Lochav's eye and about 200 were embedded in his body with fragments near the heart which could not be removed by doctors. He also showed metallic pellets found in the body of the student.

"Look at this pellet carefully. This is a pellet. Where did these pellets come from? They came from his (Sahil Lochav) body. Look at these pellets lodged in his body. There are more than 200 pellets in his body. These are AIIMS and Lady Hardinge Hospital reports, which clearly state that there are more than 200 pellets in his body. There are three pellets in his eye, and he has lost vision in that eye. He will not be able to see through that eye. There are also pellets lodged very close to his heart, which cannot be removed," Rahul said.

Gandhi Questions Delhi Police Claims

Gandhi hit out at the Delhi Police by questioning its claims of police personnel not firing pellet guns, and asking who else could have fired. He stated that police officers allegedly told him that they were under superior orders not to register FIRs on complaints.

"Delhi Police has said that they did not fire the pellets. So, there is only one question: If you did not fire them, then someone must have fired these pellets. Perhaps someone else fired them at him. And if no one else fired them, then perhaps he fired the pellets at himself," he added.

As the demonstration and protest has been happening for hours by congress members outside Delhi's Parliament street station, an FIR process has been initiated by Delhi Police in connection to pellet-gun injuries.
