31 May 2023, Mumbai: In a bid to enhance the travel experience for metro train commuters in the national capital, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has recently launched a WhatsApp-based Ticketing Service for its Airport Express Line (AEL). This new service allows passengers to travel using WhatsApp Chatbot-based QR Code generated e-tickets, thereby saving time and eliminating the need to stand in long queues.

Whatsapp Digitalisation

The Managing Director of DMRC, Dr. Vikas Kumar, along with other officials, inaugurated the service today. DMRC took to social media platforms to announce the news, stating that the introduction of the WhatsApp-based Ticketing Service aims to offer commuters an easy-to-navigate digital mode for a seamless travel experience on the Airport Express Line. Passengers can now use QR Code tickets generated through the WhatsApp Chatbot on their smartphones, as stated in DMRC’s tweet.

How does it work in reality?

So, how does the WhatsApp-based Ticketing Service work? It’s simple. “Add DMRC’s Exclusive WhatsApp Number, 9650855800, to Your Contacts for Effortless Ticket Access”. Alternatively, you can scan the Chatbot QR code displayed at all Airport Express Line ticket and customer service desks. Then, open WhatsApp and initiate a conversation with the newly added contact at 9650855800 by sending a “hi” message. Next, select your language preference from the options provided, such as Buy Ticket, Last Journey Tickets, or Retrieve Ticket.

Afterward, choose your source and destination stations, specify the number of tickets you wish to purchase, and securely make the payment using a credit card, debit card, or UPI through the integrated payment gateway. Once the transaction is completed, you will receive a QR code ticket directly in your WhatsApp conversation. To enter the metro station, simply scan the QR code on your smartphone at the designated AFC gate scanner. With the introduction of this convenient ticketing service, Delhi Metro Airport Line commuters can now enjoy a hassle-free travel experience. By leveraging the power of WhatsApp and QR codes, DMRC has made it easier for passengers to purchase tickets, thereby reducing the time spent in queues. This initiative reflects DMRC’s commitment to embracing digital advancements and improving the overall commuting experience for residents and visitors in Delhi.
