14 July 2023, Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the highly anticipated squad for the upcoming women’s cricket competition at the 2023 Asian Games. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, the Indian women’s team is set to showcase their skills in the T20 format during the tournament scheduled from September 19th to 28th, 2023.
Harmanpreet Kaur to Lead a Balanced Mix of Experienced and Young Players
The squad features a well-balanced combination of seasoned players and emerging talents, making it a formidable force against their rivals. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana will provide crucial support to Kaur, forming a strong leadership duo. The opening partnership of Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues is expected to bring fireworks with their aggressive batting and solid technique.
Explosive Opening Pair and Solid Middle Order Strengthens India’s Lineup
The middle order will be reinforced by players like Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh, who will also take up wicketkeeping duties.
