Chennai Super Kings stay in fourth place, while Punjab Kings move up to seventh.

After defeating Chennai Super Kings by seven wickets on Wednesday, Punjab Kings moved up to sixth place in the IPL 2024 points standings. Chasing 163, Jonny Bairstow’s 30-ball 46 helped PBKS reach 163/3 in 17.5 overs. Shardul Thakur, Richard Gleeson, and Shivam Dube each claimed a wicket for the bowling department of CSK.

Sam Curran, captain of the Punjab Kings, takes a shot.

Initially, CSK scored 162/7 in 20 overs thanks to a half-century by Ruturaj Gaikwad (62). Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar each took two wickets for PBKS in the meantime.Sam Curran, the captain of PBKS, stated following the game, “Very happy.” There is a unique feeling each and every time you visit Chennai and win two. We found a similar tendency to previous year, losing a lot of games at home and winning them away. We face the same opponent in a few days, therefore we are in a position where we must win every game. You should know how hot it is and that dew will eventually settle when you visit Chennai, in my opinion.”We wanted to attempt something new today, so we tried Rabada in the powerplay. We decided to try KG during the powerplay because we wanted to use our spinners later. When Chahar returned, he was the most effective bowler in the 260 game and was bowling with a lot of assurance. When I asked him to bowl in the 19th over against MSD, he stepped up. (Regarding bowling Chahar in the 19th over): I wanted to try something different because the pace bowlers were going for a bit at the end.

Gamble on spin

“Asked Rilee what he thought and gambled on spin. You have to take these kinds of chances in this game where everyone has been hitting home runs. They don’t always work and sometimes they do. We have an advantage over them because we face the same competition. Although the game and the circumstances are unfamiliar, this victory will boost our confidence greatly. We had some really good bowlers, including Jonny and the spinners, and we did a great job timing that chase. Need to strengthen that self-assurance,” he continued
