6th June 2023, Mumbai: India and Australia are gearing up for the highly anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) final, scheduled to take place at the Oval in London from June 7. With the entire contingent gathered in London, both teams have commenced their preparations for the summit clash.

Former England captain Nasser Hussain has offered his prediction for the match, believing that India will emerge victorious. He highlighted India’s opportunity to learn from their previous final appearances, especially their loss to New Zealand in Southampton. According to Hussain, India’s ability to adapt and overcome their mistakes makes them a formidable team.

Hussain also pointed out the tough competition faced by Australian batsmen from Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja during the home series earlier this year. However, despite the challenge, he predicted that India would come out on top in English conditions.

The former captain stated, “I think India, as they showed in Australia, can win in any conditions. It helps with the balance of their side if the weather is good and if the sun shines at The Oval, that they can go with their formula of two spinners, two seamers, and have Shardul Thakur as your third seamer,” expressing confidence in India’s potential.

Reflecting on the previous WTC final between India and New Zealand, Hussain emphasized that India misread the conditions, fielding two spinners in cloudy and cold weather. He considered this a significant mistake, as seam and swing dominated the match. Hussain acknowledged India’s previous success at the Oval, where they emerged victorious against England, describing it as a fair venue for the final.

As the WTC final approaches, the outcome of the match remains uncertain. Both teams are diligently preparing for the high-stakes encounter, and fans around the world eagerly await the momentous clash to determine the champion of the tournament.
