Recently rolled out on Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered chatbot, Meta AI, is one of the world’s leading AI assistants. The chatbot was launched on Sunday, June 24 in India. The chatbot intends to help users with content creation, math problems, or in-depth research on distinct topics. While scrolling through social media, one can ask the chatbot to create more pictures of a similar post. With the AI’s imagine feature, a person can ask the chatbot to create an image as per specific description.

User On X Asks The AI To Make Jokes On Lord Ram And The Muhammad Prophet

Upon the launching of Meta AI, many users took to their social media to ask indiscriminate questions. Many users were fascinated with the AI chatbot’s speed, accuracy, and creativity. However, controversy was sparked after one user shared their conversation with the chatbot. The user apparently asked the AI to make a joke on Lord Ram. The AI responded with a modest joke. However, when the user asked the chatbot to produce a joke about Muhammad Prophet, it responded by saying it could not produce jokes on religious figures. Hindus were enraged by this discriminatory treatment by the AI.

Chatbot Labeled ‘Hinduphobic’, Others Questioning Why Were Jokes Asked To Be Made In The First Place

After this, many users on ‘X’ tried having the same conversation with the AI, and received similar results. This led to a trend called ‘shame on Meta AI’ by the users. People labeled the chatbot as ‘Hinduphobic’, with one user proposing that the I&B Ministry (Ministry of Information and Broadcasting) must intervene and take cognizance of the matter, and make the creators apologize. Meanwhile, many other users claimed responsibility over the user asking the question, questioning why would one ask for a joke to be made on a religious figure in the first place. On the other side of the trend, many users were asking the AI for answers regarding the Muhammad Prophet, sparking chatter among Hindus and Muslims.

Feedback Must Be Sent Back To The Chatbot In Order To Train For Producing Efficient Responses

With the Meta AI’s introduction in India, it has already set off disputes among members of both Hindu and Muslim communities. The agitation experienced by the Hindus over Meta AI’s alleged preferential treatment of one religious figure over another is a critical point of concern amidst much tension already established between Hindus and Muslims in the country. It is necessary to keep sending feedbacks to the Artificial Intelligence chatbot to train it to produce better responses. Eventually, corrections in the AI will be made.
