What Was In The Old Post?

3 years ago, Pradhan shared a photo and wrote about meeting Wangchuk and his wife Gitanjali Angmo.

“Wonderful conversations with Shri @Wangchuk66 and his wife Gitanjali J Angmo ji. Appreciate their passion, thoughts and drive for transforming education, encouraging experiential learning, developing culture of innovation and sustainable development,” Pradhan posted on X.

Back then he praised them for education reforms. Today, the same post is being shared widely as Wangchuk sits on protest against him.

Why Is Sonam Wangchuk Protesting?

For almost 1 month, Wangchuk has been on an indefinite hunger strike since June 28.

Thousands of students and the Cockroach Janta Party are protesting at Jantar Mantar, Delhi. Their demand: Pradhan should resign over the NEET paper leak and other exam irregularities.

After police action on July 20, Pradhan hit back on X. He accused Congress of “using students as political tools” instead of solving their problems.

This came after Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders were detained during a protest outside PM Modi’s residence.

Wangchuk Moved To Medanta Hospital

Wangchuk was picked up from Jantar Mantar last week and taken to a govt hospital.

Now, after Delhi High Court’s order, he has been shifted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.

Wangchuk and his family have alleged he was “illegally detained” at Safdarjung Hospital.

Internet Reacts

People are sharing Pradhan’s old praise post with captions like “from appreciation to resignation demand.”

The contrast between the 3-year-old post and today’s protest has sparked major debate online.

Bottom line: The education minister who once praised Wangchuk’s “passion for education reform” is now the target of his month-long hunger strike.

Do you think Pradhan should respond to Wangchuk’s demands directly?
