As usual, the 75th Emmy Awards was a star-studded affair that took place two days ago. Some of the biggest personalities attended the annual Awards ceremony, which honours the outstanding work done throughout American television. The event honoured the late Matthew Perry with a montage of him and the title track, but the cast of FRIENDS—which included Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, and Matt LeBlanc—were not there. Leading entertainment portal was informed by executive producers Jeannae Rouzan-Clay and Jesse Collins of the reason behind their absence. They shared, ‘It’s still very fresh for them.’ Furthermore, they added how it was too early and they all were each other’s family and they respect that.

The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards In Memoriam staged a heartfelt homage to actor Matthew Perry, along with several other late talents, including Kirstie Alley, Paul Reubens, Len Goodman, Andre Braugher, Lance Reddick, and more.
During the segment, pop artist Charlie Puth and singer-songwriter duo The War and Treaty performed. Puth began with a rendition of his song “See You Again,” and then they gave a pared-down version of the Friends theme song, “I’ll Be There for You,” by The Rembrandts.
Mathew Perry’s Death in October
On October 28, 2023, Perry tragically passed away at the age of 54. Law enforcement said he was discovered unconscious in a hot tub at his Los Angeles residence. There were no indications of drug use or foul play. Later, it was disclosed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office that he passed away from “the acute effects of ketamine.”
The most well-known part of Perry’s career was as Chandler Bing in the popular comedy Friends. Perry’s sudden passing devastated his colleagues, family, and admirers. The Friends cast wrote after Perry passed away about their interactions with him and the significance of his character Chandler Bing on FRIENDS. They wrote about their memories with the late actor and how his death has left a huge void.
Tribute by his cast members
Matt LeBlanc, who portrayed Joey Tribbiani on Friends, shared a post on Instagram with a carousel of images and a heartfelt note for Perry. He wrote, “Matthew It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life.”
“I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day. When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now here’s one of my favorites,” Courteney Cox wrote.
Taking to Instagram, David Schwimmer wrote, “Matty, Thank you for ten incredible years of laughter and creativity. I will never forget your impeccable comic timing and delivery. You could take a straight line of dialogue and bend it to your will, resulting in something so entirely original and unexpectedly funny it still astonishes. And you had heart. Which you were generous with, and shared with us, so we could create a family out of six strangers.”
