All activity in Katra would be suspended during the bandh organized by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangarsh Samiti.
Local Stakeholders' Concerns

Local business and service providers are however concerned that this growth may negatively affect their livelihoods by reducing foot traffic along historic pilgrimage routes.
Protest Activities and Police Response

Clashes broke out when police attempted to stop the march, causing custody of several protesters along with Singh and Chand.
Pilgrims' Inconvenience
Pilgrims have been greatly impacted by the bandh, with many expressing frustration at not being able to use basic services such as eateries and local transport. "We are facing a lot of difficulties," said one pilgrim.
Where will pilgrims eat or rest during this three-day bandh? This is not the right way to protest." The disruption has led to calls for the protest to be reconsidered to avoid further hardship for visitors.
Authorities' Stance and Future Discussions
The administration had previously engaged in discussions with the protesters, seeking more time to deliberate on the issue with higher authorities. Despite these talks, the Samiti proceeded with the shutdown, citing a lack of concrete action.
The administration continues to promote for communication, in an effort to address the concerns of local stakeholders while balancing the project's possible benefits for pilgrims.
Collaborative Solutions Are Necessary
The ongoing 72-hour bandh in Katra highlighted the conflict between development projects and the livelihoods of local residents. As the protest continues, it highlights the need for effective communication and collaboration between authorities and stakeholders to find a solution that solves economic concerns without hampering infrastructural progress.
