New Delhi (India) September 4: Nishu Azad, a protester with the Cockroach Janta Party, said Friday that Delhi Police assured her that Swatantra Bhardwaj would be investigated within 72 hours, as CJP activists protested outside the Parliament Street police station, demanding firm action for allegedly assaulting her father during the Jantar Mantar protest.

"Police officers have assured us that Swatantra will be arrested within 72 hours. They have promised to take action, and we hope there will be no further delay," she said.

“This incident affected me deeply. I stopped going to school for weeks and felt judged by everyone. I hope the police will now act and ensure that I do not have to suffer any further," she added.

CJP Protesters March To Police Station

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das and co-convener Ashutosh Ranka with other protesters, went from Patel Chowk towards the Parliament Street police station in connection with the case where one of their members was injured at Jantar Mantar.

Saurav said, “There is a minor who has been associated with our protest right from Day One. Her father, Sanjay Ji, also comes with her. When we were holding a peaceful sit-in protest when some members of a criminal gang entered our protest and resorted to violence.”

"After the FIR was registered, we continued putting pressure on the police, saying that this was an attempt to murder and that the relevant section should be added. We also demanded that the SC/ST Act be invoked because they belong to a Dalit family. There is also a caste angle to the matter. But the police did not take any such action. When we pressured the police, they told us to approach the court and obtain an order," Das added.

Viral Video Sparks Political Controversy

The BJP has faced allegations after a video of self-styled influencer Swatantra Bhardwaj where he admitted a telephone call from Delhi minister Kapil Mishra saved him from arrest over the allegation that he had beat up the student's father.

He said, “I cracked the skull of Nishu's father. Do you know which section this crime attracts? Section 307. He needed 60 stitches. The man was being taken away in an ambulance in a serious condition.”

He added, “But I was not even jailed. The world should know this. I was out and about through the night.”

Police Disputes Skull Fracture Claim

Delhi Police claims it has filed a case against Bhardwaj and Suraj but the CJP, as well as Nishu, demand that Section 307 be invoked against both of them. The tension has been escalating, and reached new levels on Thursday, the Delhi Police dismissed the story of a skull fracture claiming that the father only had a basic head injury obtained after a fight, a day after the video went viral on the internet.
