New Delhi (India) March 29:Even though President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that the United States has almost finished its work in Iran , his administration is setting up for weeks of ground operations in Iran, a Washington Post report said. But the main focus of the operations will be on raids and taking over of main points and not a full scale invasion.
Marines Land: USS Tripoli Leads
The report mentioned the plan is still with Trump for going forward with it and that even if he will sign it is "uncertain". It is also important to highlight that the US has sent more than 3,500 servicemen, including sailors and marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, as well as transport and strike fighter aircraft, to the Middle East.
CENTCOM shared images of American soldiers in battle outfits with helmets and goggles. The Marines are in addition to the 50,000 American troops currently in the Middle East.
"U.S. Sailors and Marines aboard USS Tripoli (LHA 7) arrived in theU.S. Central Commandarea of responsibility , March 27. The America-class amphibious assault ship serves as the flagship for the Tripoli Amphibious Ready Group," CENTCOM said in a post on social media platform X.
Ghalibaf Warns of Punishment
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the speaker of Iran's Parliament, in a speech on Sunday stated that the US is gearing up for ground invasions. He pointed out that while the US is conveying messages for negotiation and dialogue, it is "secretly" planning ground invasions. In any case, he cautioned that Iranian forces are prepared to fire and punish the US soldiers.
He said, "The enemy publicly sends messages of negotiation and dialogue while secretly planning a ground attack. Our men are waiting for the arrival of the American soldiers on the ground to set them on fire and punish their regional allies once and for all.”
Iran Vows: US Invaders Will Burn in Hell
Iran's English-language Tehran Times issued a sharp warning to the US on Saturday, stating that foreign troops entering Iranian soil would "leave only in coffins." The front page carried the headline "Welcome To Hell," signaling how tensions have grown as Washington considers sending more forces to the region. -
The message was not just words. It was visual too. A photo showed soldiers in full gear marching toward a military plane, representing possible troop deployment and conflict. The image and bold title together suggested resistance is active and ready to respond.
This marks a major escalation in American presence at a time when pressure is mounting across the region. At least in theory, such moves could shift dynamics quickly, but ground actions remain highly uncertain.
