Azerbaijan Airlines Plane Crashes Near Aktau, Dozens Feared Dead

(Delhi) December 25 : A terrible accident happened on Wednesday when an Azerbaijan Airlines plane with more than 60 people on board crashed near Aktau in Kazakhstan. There was thick fog where the plane was supposed to land in Grozny, Chechnya, so it had to change its path. Kazakhstan's Emergency Ministry said that a lot of people were hurt, with at least 28 people still alive and 42 people thought to be dead.

Fog Forces Route Change of Flight

The terrible flight left from Baku, but bad weather in Grozny forced them to turn around and go to Aktau instead. Kazakh flight officials said the crash happened just before the plane could get to Aktau Airport. "The rerouting was necessary as a safety measure because fog made it hard to see," said a flight expert.

Survivors Are Taken from Debris

First rescuers rushed to the crash site and searched through the debris for survivors. Officials confirmed that 28 passengers escaped the crash, but many were hurt and needed medical help right away. Sadly, rescue operations showed a terrible toll with at least 42 people were killed. The exact number of people who died has not yet been confirmed.

Unpleasant Images Surface

Videos posted by witnesses on social media showed terrifying portions of the crash. The video showed that the plane was on fire after it hit the ground, leaving only broken pieces. First responders could be seen searching through the debris for passengers and the black box so that it could be studied.

An investigation is underway

Kazakhstan's government has started a full inquiry into the crash, looking at both technical and environmental cause. Aviation experts think that the accident might have been caused by a mix of bad weather and a technology problem. A representative from Azerbaijan Airlines said they were very sorry about what happened and promised to fully assist authorities.
