14 November 2023, Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor’s latest release, “Animal,” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, continues to make waves at the global box office as it approaches the coveted Rs 800 crore mark. Despite experiencing a dip in collections during its second week, the film’s overall performance remains robust. As of day 13, the all-India nett stands at Rs 467 crore, with the movie eyeing records set by films like “Gadar 2” and “Pathaan.”
Box Office Performance in the Second Week
On its second Wednesday, “Animal” collected Rs 10 crore all-India net, marking its lowest figure since the film’s release on December 1. The total collection now stands at Rs 467 crore all-India nett. While the film’s second-week collections have seen a gradual decline, the upcoming third weekend holds significant importance for “Animal,” as it competes with lifetime records set by other releases.
Comparison with Competing Films
The Rs 10 crore second Wednesday collection of “Animal” is on par with Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2.” In terms of breaking records, “Animal” will aim to surpass the lifetime totals of “Pathaan” (Rs 524 crore) and “Gadar 2” (Rs 525 crore). The film needs to generate over Rs 100 crore from this point onwards to achieve these milestones. On an all-India scale, “Animal” will strive to exceed “Pathaan’s” Rs 545 crore haul.
Challenges and Upcoming Releases
To secure these records, “Animal” must deliver a stellar third weekend, as its showcasing will substantially reduce after Sunday. The release of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Dunki” on Thursday poses a new challenge, followed by Prabhas’ action-packed “Salaar,” which hits screens on December 22. The word of mouth for these Christmas releases will play a crucial role in determining “Animal’s” final standing in the box office race.
Ranbir Kapoor’s Box Office Triumph Continues
Despite the upcoming competitive releases and the challenges posed by the crowded holiday season, “Animal” has displayed remarkable resilience. Ranbir Kapoor’s consistent success streak, coupled with the film’s overall performance, indicates that it may continue to make waves in the global box office landscape. As audiences eagerly await the outcome of the Christmas releases, the success story of “Animal” unfolds
