Gautam Adani’s Adani Group is going to invest around Rs 2.3 lakh crore in the coming days. Adani Group plans to invest this money in emerging sectors of renewable energy and solar and wind manufacturing.

This amount will be invested until the year 2030 under the plan of Adani Group. Money will be spent to increase the power generation capacity from 2 GW to 30 GW from solar energy and wind energy in Khawra, Kutch, Gujarat.

Will invest in Gujarat

According to a senior company official, Adani New Industries, a unit of Adani Enterprises, will invest around Rs 50,000 crore on similar projects of 6 to 7 GW at various locations in the country. Adani New Industries is going to invest around Rs 30 lakh crore in the expansion of solar cell and wind turbine manufacturing capacity in Mundra, Gujarat.

The capacity will be increased to 45 GW.

Adani Green Energy currently has a capacity of 10,934 MW (10.93 GW). The company aims to achieve 45 GW of renewable energy generation capacity by 2030. 30 GW of that capacity will come from Khawra, the world’s largest renewable energy project.

Company MD Vineet Jain, while talking to the media, said that we have commissioned a 2,000 megawatt (2 GW) capacity plant at Khwada. The capacity will be increased by 4 GW in the current financial year 2024–25 and by 5 GW every year thereafter.

The Khawra plant will generate 81 billion units of electricity.

According to Vineet Jain, the Khawra plant is spread over an area of about 538 square kilometers. It is also about five times bigger than Paris. When it reaches its peak production capacity, it will generate 81 billion units of electricity.

This is enough electricity that it can single-handedly meet the energy needs of countries like Belgium, Chile, and Switzerland. Apart from Khavda, Adani Group is also preparing similar projects in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.

Target of 45 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity

AGEL is targeting 45 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Of this, 30 gigawatts of capacity will come from the world’s largest renewable energy project at just one location, Khavra. “We have just commissioned 2,000 MW (two gigawatts) of capacity at Khavda and plan to add four gigawatts in the current financial year (2024–25) and five gigawatts every year thereafter,” said Vineet S. Jain, managing director of AGEL.

Emissions of 21 million metric tons of CO2 will be reduced.

The operational portion of Adani Green Energy’s renewable energy portfolio includes 7,393 MW of solar, 1,401 MW of wind, and 2,140 MW of wind-solar hybrid capacity. The company aims to install 45 GW of renewable capacity by 2030. The company will power more than 58 lakh houses, the statement said. Will save about 21 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
