Chief Meta Officer Mark Zuckerberg Evaluates Apple Vision Pro and Pairs It with the Seven-Time Cheaper Quest 3. He stated that the Quest 3 performs better, is lighter, and is far more affordable than Apple’s VR headset, which is seven times more expensive. In his view, the Quest is also an overall superior product.

In the world of mixed-reality headsets, Meta stands as one of Apple’s primary competitors, featuring its more budget-friendly Quest lineup. Despite notable differences in pricing—Meta Quest 3 at $499 compared to the hefty $3,499 for Apple’s entry-level Vision Pro—inevitable comparisons arise. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently took to Instagram, sharing a video in which he articulates why he believes the Meta Quest 3 surpasses the Apple Vision Pro in various aspects.

Along with this he stated few points like He claimed that, similar to the Vision Pro, Quest 3 allows users to keep many windows open and features pass through capture.

Another key area that Zuckerberg feels his product excels over Apple’s is comfort. He said that because the Quest is lightweight and lacks any cables to get in the way, it feels less substantial on the face. He emphasized that although Apple has a better resolution display, Meta has a larger field of view and brighter panels. He said Meta Quest 3 maintains its sharpness while the Apple Vision Pro exhibits a kind of “motion blur when you move around.” Apple’s product lacks precision controllers, which Quest 3 offers for improved gaming. He also thinks Meta provides users with improved hand tracking. You can watch YouTube and play Xbox games natively; a Vision Pro app might be on the way.

In closing, Zuckerberg stated, “Now look, I know that some fanboys get upset whenever somebody dares to question if Apple is going to be the leader in a new category, but the reality is that every generation of computing has an open and a closed model. And yeah, in mobile, Apple’s closed model won. It’s not always that way. If you go back to the PC era, Microsoft’s open model was the winner. In this next generation, Meta is going to be the open model, and I really want to make sure that the open model wins out again. The future is not yet written.”

Nevertheless, Meta has a lengthy history of manufacturing headsets; their lineup includes models from the Oculus Quest, Quest 2, Quest 3, and even the Quest Pro. There are also rumors that Apple is developing a mass-market, less expensive version of the Vision Pro. Future developments in the rapidly hot mixed-reality race should be exciting to watch. There’s no denying that more competition means better products for customers.
