India vs New Zealand

India and New Zealand are set to clash in a five-match T20I series that gets underway in Christchurch on Thursday. With their history of fierce T20I rivalries, India's record in New Zealand is full of heartbreaks and Super Over upsets.

India played 12 T20Is against New Zealand in New Zealand between 2009 and 2020, winning five, losing four and drawing on three occasions, with India winning two Super Overs.

2009: New Zealand dominate India's inaugural tour

India's inaugural bilateral T20I series in New Zealand ended in a 2-0 loss for them. Brendon McCullum was the star man for New Zealand, scoring an unbeaten 56 and 69 in the two matches as the hosts came out on top.

2019: Kiwis edge out India in thrilling encounter

After nearly a decade, India returned to New Zealand for a three-match T20I series, but they went down 2-1 to the hosts. Tim Seifert's unbeaten 84 powered New Zealand to a commanding victory in the opener, however, India equalized with the help of Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant.

In the decider in Hamilton, Colin Munro scored 72 as New Zealand reached 212/4. Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya led a late surge, but India fell short by four runs.

2020: India record historic 5-0 sweep

India had their most successful T20I tour of New Zealand in 2020 as they became the first team to beat the hosts in a five-match bilateral T20I series.

KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer stood out with the bat, while two tied matches saw KL Rahul and Virat Kohli score sixes in consecutive deliveries to clinch the Super Over in Hamilton. Another Super Over victory in Wellington followed as Kohli helped India home.

India completed the clean sweep in Mount Maunganui with Rohit Sharma scoring 60 and Jasprit Bumrah taking three wickets.

2022: India win series again in New Zealand

India completed a 1-0 series win over New Zealand in 2022. Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 111 as India posted 191/6 in Mount Maunganui before Deepak Hooda took four wickets in the win. The opening match was abandoned while the final match ended in a tie under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method.

India will head to New Zealand for another five-match T20I series, which promises to be as exciting as the series in 2020.
