27th June 2023, Mumbai: In a recent turn of events, popular Bollywood singer Arijit Singh has taken to Twitter to address the backlash he received for singing the remade version of the Pakistani hit song “Pasoori” for the upcoming movie “Satyaprem Ki Katha.” With fans expressing disappointment over his involvement in the project, Arijit shared his side of the story, shedding light on a noble cause that motivated his decision.

Screenshots and tweets from an unverified Twitter account, believed to be Arijit Singh’s, have been circulating online, offering insight into his perspective. According to the tweets, Arijit explained that he struck a deal with the producers at T-Series to support a charitable cause. When questioned about why he agreed to the song, Arijit responded, “The maker has promised me a yearly fund for a school for the underprivileged.”

The singer also addressed the criticism and what he referred to as “propaganda” surrounding the issue. He expressed his belief that the industry often builds up and tears down artists at its convenience, emphasising the importance of music lovers not allowing such negative narratives to bring down an artist.

Despite the negative reactions and comparisons drawn to the original song, Arijit stated that he had anticipated the backlash and was not saddened by it. He responded to a fan comment , saying, No, I always knew it would have a reaction. And I am not sad at all.

One fan raised a concern about a missed part in the original song, to which Arijit replied that he had performed that portion live out of love, but the decision to exclude it in the remake was made by others for different reasons.

Acknowledging the toxic nature of certain individuals who engage in hate speech, another fan expressed their support while urging Arijit to ignore the negativity. In response, Arijit simply stated, “Let them hate. Inside they are not hating me. They don’t know who to blame. I feel them.”

The controversy revolves around the recently unveiled remade song “Pasoori Nu” from the movie “Satyaprem Ki Katha,” featuring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani. The new version, which also includes vocals by Tulsi Kumar, has received mixed reviews from the audience. The original song, sung by Ali Sethi and Shae Gill, was highly popular and became the most-searched song on Google in 2022.

Scheduled for release on June 29, “Satyaprem Ki Katha” is a romantic film produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Sameer Vidwans. The movie brings together Kartik and Kiara once again after their successful collaboration in the 2022 film “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.” Originally titled “Satyanarayan Ki Katha,” the film underwent a renaming process following criticism before settling on the current title.

While controversy continues to surround Arijit Singh’s involvement in the song, his revelation about supporting a charitable cause through his participation sheds light on his motivations. As fans await the release of “Satyaprem Ki Katha,” it remains to be seen how this revelation will impact the public’s perception and reception of the movie.
