5th October 2023 Mumbai: Chandramukhi 2, the much-anticipated sequel to the Tamil horror comedy blockbuster, is experiencing a gradual descent in its box office fortunes after an impressive opening weekend in the domestic market. Helmed by director P. Vasu and featuring the talented Kangana Ranaut in a lead role, the film has so far grossed nearly ₹33 crore in India, marking a significant achievement in its box office journey.

Chandramukhi 2 Day Wise Box Office Collections

The sequel’s initial performance set high expectations, collecting ₹8.25 crore on its debut day, with Tamil-speaking audiences contributing ₹5.58 crore, Telugu viewers adding ₹2.5 crore, and Hindi audiences chipping in with ₹17 lakh. The film’s momentum continued into the second day, amassing ₹4.35 crore, with Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi versions contributing ₹3.4 crore, ₹85 lakh, and ₹10 lakh, respectively. On its third day, the film raked in ₹5.05 crore, with Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages contributing ₹4.05 crore, ₹9 lakh, and ₹10 lakh, respectively. Impressively, the film maintained its stride on the fourth day, accumulating ₹6.8 crore, with Tamil-speaking viewers contributing ₹5.45 crore, Telugu audiences adding ₹1.15 crore, and Hindi supporters contributing ₹20 lakh.

Chandramukhi 2 Faces Decline in Collections

Despite the initial success, Chandramukhi 2 faced a decline in box office earnings, collecting ₹4.55 crore on the fifth day, with Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi versions contributing ₹3.55 crore, ₹85 lakh, and ₹15 lakh, respectively. The following day saw further erosion in collections, with the film amassing ₹2.05 crore, with Tamil-speaking audiences contributing ₹1.47 crore, Telugu viewers adding ₹55 lakh, and Hindi audiences chipping in with ₹3 lakh.

On its seventh day, the film’s box office performance registered a notable drop, as it earned ₹1.9 crore in India across all languages, according to early estimates. The total earnings for Chandramukhi 2 in India now stand at ₹32.95 crore. Chandramukhi 2 stars the versatile Kangana Ranaut and the talented Raghava Lawrence in the lead roles. It is the sequel to the highly successful Chandramukhi, which featured Rajinikanth and Jyothika in prominent roles. Produced by Lyca Productions and Subaskaran, the sequel was released across multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Chandramukhi 2 Storyline

In Chandramukhi 2, Kangana Ranaut takes on the role of a skilled dancer renowned for her beauty and dancing prowess in the king’s court. Raghava Lawrence portrays King Vettaiyan Raja, the male lead, opposite Kangana. Initially slated for release on September 15, the film faced delays and was eventually released on September 28 due to technical issues.

In a heartwarming gesture, Raghava Lawrence met with the legendary actor Rajinikanth prior to the release of Chandramukhi 2. Sharing a video of their meeting on the platform formerly known as Twitter (X), Raghava paid his respects to Rajinikanth by touching his feet and seeking his blessings. During the encounter, he also extended his congratulations to Rajinikanth for the success of his recent film “Jailer.” In his message, Raghava expressed his happiness and admiration for the iconic actor, referring to him as “Thalaivar” and emphasizing the profound significance of their mentor-student relationship with the phrase, “Guruve Saranam” (Teacher is everything).
