5 June 2023, Mumbai: Fatou, NVee, Gabi, and Sriya, members of the K-pop girl group BLACKSWAN, have sent a letter through their agency expressing their condolences for the unfortunate events in Balasore, Odisha. Being from Odisha, group member Sriya Lenka, the first K-pop idol from India, makes the occasion extra personal. The trio also posted a few behind-the-scenes images from when they recently filmed a song video in the Indian state. They stated the following.
On June 4, the girl group’s management company, DR MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, released a statement addressing the accident, which has resulted in at least 288 fatalities and more than 1200 injuries.
“This is DR MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT; welcome.”
“Balasore, Odisha, India saw a tragic train disaster. Our sincere condolences go out to everyone affected by the accident as well as the people of India from all of us at DR MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT, especially BLACKSWAN.”
“It is particularly regrettable since the disaster originated in Sriya Lenka’s native state of Odisha, which served as the setting for the music video for BLACKSWAN’s most recent album, “That Karma.” We won’t soon forget how much love and support we received from the people of Odisha while taking part in the opening ceremony of the 2023 Odisha Hockey World Cup, three local festival performances, and the filming of a music video.”
“In order to repay some of the enormous amount of love and support we have received from Odisha, after this ongoing album promotion is over, we will talk about and look for ways to help those who have been affected by this tragic accident by donating some of the profits from Karma’s album sales, etc.
We really hope that you will quickly recover and that the damage will be repaired.”

In order to prepare for their performance at the 2023 Odisha Hockey World Cup Opening Ceremony, the group travelled to Bhubaneswar, Odisha, where they shot the music video for their most recent album release, “That Karma.” After the release’s promotional period is through, the group has chosen to divide the album sales revenue among those in need. The group has received support from the K-pop community, who applaud their decision to lend a hand.
