Kangana Ranaut's 'Tejas' Falters at the Box Office with Meager Earnings

29 October 2023, Mumbai: Kangana Ranaut’s latest film, “Tejas,” is grappling with a lackluster performance at the box office. Despite high expectations, the aerial action movie struggled to gain momentum, earning a meager Rs 1.25 crore on its second day. This setback resulted in a total domestic collection of Rs 2.50 crore, leaving fans and industry watchers disappointed.

Tejas’s Stiff Competition and Slow Start

“Tejas” made its cinematic debut on October 27th with an underwhelming opening day collection of just Rs 1.25 crore. Regrettably, the film did not show signs of improvement on its second day. The movie faced formidable competition from Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s “12th Fail,” which also had a sluggish start at the box office, earning Rs 1.10 crore on Friday. Surprisingly, “12th Fail” managed to outshine “Tejas” on Saturday, collecting Rs 2.20 crore.

Budget and Promotional Efforts

One of the significant factors amplifying the disappointment surrounding “Tejas” is its substantial budget and extensive promotional endeavors. The film was crafted with a budget of Rs. 60 crore, excluding costs related to print and publicity. Given this significant investment, the underwhelming box office performance is a substantial setback for both Kangana Ranaut and RSVP Movies.

Kangana’s Recent Struggles

The disappointing performance of “Tejas” compounds Kangana Ranaut’s recent struggles at the box office. Her last five films, including “Dhaakad” (2022), “Thalaivi” (2021), “Panga” (2020), and “Judgementall Hai Kya” (2019), faced challenges in connecting with audiences and were labeled as box office flops. The lackluster response to “Tejas” further underscores her current box office woes.

About ‘Tejas’

“Tejas” features Kangana Ranaut in the lead role and is written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara, with production by Ronnie Screwvala. Alongside Kangana, the film boasts an ensemble cast including Anshul Chauhan, Varun Mitra, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vishak Nair, Kashyap Shangari, Sunit Tandon, Rio Kapadia, Mohan Agashe, and Mushtaq Kak. Despite its initial challenges at the box office, “Tejas” continues to be a focal point in the world of cinema.
