14th May 2023, Mumbai : Puri Jagannadh has made his return by working with Ram Pothineni on their upcoming pan-Indian film in response to the failure of Liger. This film, Double Ismart, is a follow-up to their hugely popular 2019 film Ismart Shankar. It is official that the movie’s March 8, 2024, release date has been set.
On Ram Pothineni’s birthday, Puri Jagannadh and Charmee Kaur, who are producing Double Ismart under the Puri Connects label, presented the movie’s title poster. In the background of the poster are Charminar, Lord Shiva Lingam, and his trishool. The movie will debut on Maha Shivaratri, which occurs on March 8, 2024, almost five years after the huge box office triumph of its predecessor. There will be Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam versions of the sequel.
Mani Sharma will be composing the music for Double Ismart, however other than Ram Pothineni, little is known about the cast and crew. It is unknown if the lead actresses from the first movie, Nidhhi Agarwal and Nabha Natesh, would return in their respective capacities. After Jana Gana Mana with Vijay Deverakonda was shelved, director Puri Jagannadh began writing the sequel’s script.
Sharing the announcement of Puri and Ram’s film, the makers wrote, “The ENERGETIC combo ofUstaad @ramsayz & Dashing Director #PuriJagannadh is back with ISMART BANG for #DoubleISMART. Ismart Shankar narrates the story of a hitman who assists the police in their investigations by accessing the memories of a murdered officer. The film was released on July 18, 2019, and went on to become a commercial triumph, running in theaters for over 100 days. Despite the flop of the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer Liger, the first installment of Double Ismart has created excitement among audiences. Fans of the film are eagerly waiting to see what Puri Jagannadh will offer in the sequel.
