12 June 2023, Mumbai: Director Sudipto Sen’s highly anticipated film, The Kerala Story, continues to make waves at the box office, defying bans and controversies. On Sunday, June 11, the film experienced a slight incline in its collection, crossing the remarkable milestone of Rs 240 crore in India.
Since its release, The Kerala Story has been setting the box office ablaze, captivating audiences with its intense narrative. Despite facing bans and controversies, the film triumphantly graced screens worldwide on May 5 and has emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of 2023. While the film garnered significant collections in its first four weeks, it witnessed a gradual decline in numbers during the fifth and sixth weeks in theaters. However, on its 38th day at the box office, The Kerala Story showcased a glimmer of growth and amassed Rs 75 lakh in India. This remarkable achievement propelled the film’s total collection to Rs 240.15 crore (nett) in India. Moreover, on June 11, the film recorded an occupancy rate of 25.79 percent, reflecting its enduring appeal among audiences.
Despite its recent incline, The Kerala Story might soon make way for the highly anticipated release of Prabhas’ Adipurush on June 16. The Kerala Story follows the gripping tale of a Hindu woman, portrayed by Adah Sharma, hailing from Kerala. She becomes a victim of brainwashing, forcibly embracing Islam, and is sent to Syria, where she is coerced into joining the ISIS terrorist organization. Her journey is marked by unimaginable torture and suffering. Directed by Sudipto Sen and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, The Kerala Story has been under scrutiny since the release of its trailer, yet its captivating storyline continues to enthrall audiences across the nation.
