Sinatra Biopic by Scorsese, Leonardo and Jennifer are reuniting?
The director, Martin Scorsese is bringing back to life his hibernated biopic of Frank Sinatra with his all-time partner, the actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
It was reported by Variety that right after this month’s completion of shooting “Silence” -his adaptation of a book written by Japanese writer Shūsaku Endō, Scorsese will begin working on a project about the life story of Frank Sinatra. In addition, apart from Leonardo DiCaprio who is expected to play Sinatra and Jennifer Lawrence as Ava Gardner who was married to the musician between 1951 and 1957, we have no information regarding casting so far. But Tina Sinatra has not yet given her approval for this production which needs it, to use any of her father’s music and pictures in it.
Past Attempts to Film
Before now, Scorsese had first attempted filming the life story of Sinatra in a 2009 production announced with backing from Hollywood studio Universal and rumors that DiCaprio would be cast as lead. Consequently, he told media personnel afterwards in 2010 that he wanted Al Pacino and Robert De Niro to perform as Sinatra and fellow Rat Pack member Dean Martin respectively.
During interviews at various times earlier this year, Scorsese also revealed other movie details including his idea to present several actors playing one principal character. He said, “We can’t go through the greatest hits of Sinatra’s life. We tried this already. Just can’t do it. So the other way to go is to have three or four different Sinatras. Younger. Older. Middle-aged. Very old. You cut back and forth in time – and you do it through the music.”

Frank Sinatra was born in 1915 and died in 1998 at the age of 82. The facts of his biography are well known, Sinatra became a cult figure of the 20th century due to the versatility of his talent, the list of which includes a stellar role in the 1962 thriller The Manchurian Candidate, the crooning of legends such as My Way and New York , New York. His private life also became the subject of discussion, the reasons for this were 4 marriages. In 1951, Sinatra broke up with his first wife Nancy Barbato and married actress Ava Gardner on the same day. The couple broke up 6 years later, and the artist married Mia Farrow and married Barbara Marx in 1966, whom he did not leave until his death. The rights to Frank’s estate belong to daughter Tina Sinatra, who has yet not agreed about the film.
