CJP Stands Firm on Pradhan's Exit as Centre Seeks More Time

The meeting of nearly two hours, conducted here at the Constitution Club of India, wrapped up without a firm resolution, after the administration requested some time, until the afternoon on Saturday to come to the organization’s proposal on Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.

Government Asks For More Time To Respond

Following this discussion, a spokesperson of the Cockroach Janta Party, Ashutosh Ranka said, the government agreed on two main demands. The CJP had also called for compensation of Rs 1 crore to the parents of every NEET applicant who may have ended their life in agony , along with protection to their protestors. 

"The government has asked for time till tomorrow afternoon on our demand for Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation. We hope the government will remove him soon," Ranka said.

"The government has expressed in-principle approval on the two demands of compensation (for families of NEET aspirants who died by suicide) and withdrawal of FIRs, legal cases on students," he added.

Nadda Says Discussions Were Cordial

The Union Health minister Mr Nadda described the meeting as “cordial” but declined to elaborate further on either this or any agreements it made with the Cockroach Janata Party.

"They had three key demands and five reform suggestions for exams. We have told them that we will meet them again tomorrow afternoon," Nadda said.

CJP Seeks Apology And Safeguards For Students

Another representative for the CJP,Saurav Das expressed that the organization also demanded apologies from the Union government, the rapid action force as well as the Delhi police for actions against their protestors who had gathered to protest against the May 3’rd NEET examination –which had been scheduled as part of the Sansad Chalo march.

In their declaration to the Union Government the group emphasized that since its leaders consulted with national support, they unanimously determined that Mr. Pradhan’s departure from his post, victim compensation, and judicial immunity for those who were protesting would be non-negotiable.

"When Ashutosh and I went there, Union Ministers JP Nadda and Dr Jitendra Singh were also present. We clearly conveyed, both verbally and in writing, our three main demands. The first demand, which is non-negotiable, is that either Dharmendra Pradhan should resign or the government should dismiss him from the Cabinet," Das said.

"The government showed a positive response to our second and third demands: compensation, withdrawal of FIRs, and a written sovereign guarantee that such FIRs would not be filed in the future. The government said that, in principle, it accepts these two demands. Therefore, we have been called for another meeting tomorrow," he added.
